Two North Riverside Plaza

  About Two North Riverside Plaza

Two North Riverside Plaza, originally designed for the Chicago Daily News by Holabird & Root, marked a milestone in Chicago architecture when it was completed in 1929. The Art Deco classic introduced the city’s:

  • First public plaza at an office building, an innovation adopted by many of the city’s later commercial properties
  • First use of air rights over railroad tracks, which provided a blueprint for other buildings
  • Focus on the riverfront, now viewed as a prized amenity for the current generation of downtown development

Yesterday’s pioneering architectural achievement is now a contemporary, newly renovated setting for today’s business and an ideal location for tomorrow’s enterprise to flourish.
